Traffic Notifications
The Status > Traffic alarms section shows any issues delaying traffic being delivered and the outcome of deliveries. Follow the below steps to receive notification of these in Slack.
Set-up Slack Notifications
Setting Up Slack for Traffic Notifications:

Create a Slack Channel for Traffic Notifications

Log in to Slack:
- Go to your Slack workspace and log in.

Create a New Channel:
- On the left-hand sidebar, click the '+' button next to 'Channels' or the 'Add channels' option.
- Select 'Create a new channel'.
- Enter a name, e.g.,
ssg-traffic-notifications
(Slack automatically formats channel names to lowercase and uses hyphens). - Add a description if desired (e.g., 'Channel for SSG traffic updates').
- Choose whether the channel will be public or private. For most notification systems, public is preferable unless sensitive data is being shared.

Add Team Members (Optional):
- You can invite team members to the channel immediately or skip this step and add them later.

Click 'Create':
- Your new channel is ready to use.

Add an App to Your Slack Workspace

Access the Slack App Directory:
- Click on 'Apps' in the left-hand sidebar.
- At the bottom, click 'Find apps' or go to https://slack.com/apps in your browser.

Create a New App:
- Scroll to the bottom of the App Directory and click 'Build'.
- Click 'Create New App'.
- Choose 'From scratch'.
- Enter an app name (e.g., 'ML SSG Traffic Monitor') and select the workspace where it will be installed.

Create an Incoming Webhook for the App

Enable Incoming Webhooks:
- In your app settings, go to 'Features' > 'Incoming Webhooks'.
- Toggle the switch to enable incoming webhooks.

Add a Webhook URL:
- Scroll down and click 'Add New Webhook to Workspace'.
- Select the channel you created earlier (e.g.,
ssg-traffic-notifications
). - Click 'Allow'.

Copy the Webhook URL:
- Once created, you will see a unique webhook URL.
- Copy this URL; you’ll need to provide it to [email protected] for it to be used to send traffic notifications to the Slack channel.
