The reporting database is used to generate reports on MT and MO SMS traffic passing between your customers and suppliers.

Issue

When reporting on a period greater than the last 24-hours, the following reports are computationally expensive and have previously taken a number of minutes to generate:

• Customers > Error
• Customers > SMSC
• Customers > Margin *
• Suppliers *
• Queued *
• Delivery latency *

Most reports are either generated immediately or in a handful of seconds regardless of the period being the current day, the last month, or a number of months. Unfortunately, the time taken to generate some reports (indicated by *) has previously taken so long that in some cases the report would fail to be generated when requested.

Solution

At the end of September 2023, we added a new "read replica" database server to the existing set of database servers. This new server has a much greater performance than those previously used for generating reports.

We are in the process of tuning the database servers for optimal performance and faster report generation.
